End-of-year presentations
evvoliLab's activities started in March 2026. At the end of the school year, SID students presented the product concepts they developed in the Co-design Lab.
Three ways in.
01 Co-design Lab
Learning by doing: young designers, specifically third-year students at SID – Scuola Italiana Design, work on ideating and designing new products from an evvoli brief.
Guided by professionals, they are invited to unleash their imagination and come up with creative concepts based on specific needs backed by research and market analysis. At evvoliLab, the sky is the limit!
02 Trend Observatory
Researchers at Galileo Visionary District explore how people live in and use their homes, focusing on comfort. This edition is focused on air systems and their relations to how and why we use them. The goal is to foresee the future of air treatment solutions with the lowest emissions and energy consumption. Their findings inform the Co-design Lab briefs and are shared through articles.
03 Open Platform for Innovation
evvoliLab connects with researchers, startups and spin-offs developing ideas related to evvoli's work and aligned with its vision, or working on frontier technologies for promising markets. Galileo's startup incubator, Start Cube, launches 2 calls for applications and leads the scouting process.
The story
From the Lab
evvoliLab's activities started in March 2026. At the end of the school year, SID students presented the product concepts they developed in the Co-design Lab.
evvoliLab is part of evvoli's innovation strategy. The vision is to work alongside innovative hubs in Europe and around the world. In 2025–2026, evvoli signed agreements with the science park Galileo Visionary District in Padova. The mission is to bring market knowledge and innovation in industry to work together. The method is applied in three parts: a Co-design Lab where SID – Scuola Italiana Design students develop product concepts with evvoli, a Trend Observatory that studies how we live, and an Open Platform for Innovation, led by Start Cube, for researchers, startups and spin-offs.
evvoliLab is currently in its pilot phase. The Co-design Lab is exclusively open to students at SID – Scuola Italiana Design, while the Trend Observatory is run by the Galileo Visionary District research team. The Open Platform for Innovation includes two open calls, published and managed by Start Cube on behalf of evvoli, welcoming startups, researchers, spin-offs and anyone with ideas relevant to the briefs. We are still at the beginning, but companies, researchers, designers or young talents can always write to us to propose an idea or a partnership.
Each brief starts from evvoli. The Trend Observatory, run by researchers at Galileo Visionary District, turns research into design questions. In the Co-design Lab, students take the brief through research, needs analysis, ideation, concept development, reviews with the company and a final presentation.
Students get direct dialogue with the company and an experience close to professional practice. For projects selected through the Open Call, technical and commercial feasibility are assessed together, and these projects may activate co-funded innovation programmes, with no initial request for company shares. Possible long-term partnerships are evaluated only at a later stage.
Yes. The second session of the Open Call for Ideas is open now. Apply through the dedicated form: selection is handled in-house to ensure a high-level technical and strategic dialogue. Details come with the application process.
Not yet: the next call is coming soon. Our calls run in two sessions. The first has taken place, and the second is being planned. Details will arrive with the application process. In the meantime, write to us.
What is evvoliLab
An innovation platform connecting industry, education, design, research, startups and young talent, to explore what the future of home appliances could look like.
Who's behind it
Market insight meets research and design.
evvoliLab brings together evvoli's understanding of market needs and Galileo Visionary District's research and design expertise. Together, they identify emerging trends and opportunities, which students at SID – Scuola Italiana Design explore through the Co-design Lab to develop new product concepts.
How the Lab works
Together, these three dimensions build a continuous process: observing how people's lifestyle changes, turning research results into new product proposals, and opening development to external researchers, startups and skills.
SID students and evvoli develop new product concepts together, from a real brief to the final presentation, as part of the students' studies at SID.
Who's in: only third-year students of SID – Scuola Italiana Design.

Industry partner
evvoli is an international consumer electronics and home appliance brand, characterised by Italian-inspired design and a people-oriented approach to technology. Its portfolio includes air conditioning, air treatment, kitchen, home care and audio-video solutions.
evvoli is the flagship brand of MASA Group, through MASA Trading FZE, a group headquartered in Dubai active in the development and international distribution of brands and home products.
With evvoliLab, the brand opens its industrial vision to collaboration with education, research, design and startups.
Academic hub
Galileo Visionary District is a science and technology park based in Padova that integrates education, research, design and business development. The District brings together organisations such as SID – Scuola Italiana Design, the educational and design heart, applied R&D activities, the MaTech materials centre and the Start Cube startup incubator, creating an ecosystem in which students, companies, researchers and innovators collaborate on the development of new products, technologies and ideas.
Open Call for Ideas
Applications open until …Applications open
Next call coming soon
Built around projects. Not promises. evvoliLab welcomes research groups, startups and spin-offs developing technologies with potential applications in home appliances, cooling and heating. We are also interested in emerging technologies that could meet new market needs. The goal is to connect research with business expertise to develop practical solutions for everyday life.
What we explore
Innovative refrigeration systems, alternatives to gas refrigerants in air conditioning, green gases (R32 and successors), energy efficiency.
Air filtration technologies (HEPA/UV-C), antibacterial surfaces and advanced materials.
Connectivity, home automation and remote management of the home environment.
New frontiers for cooking and food preservation.
Supply chain, predictive maintenance, customer service: automation, predictive algorithms and tools for analysing consumer needs.
Zero-emission cooling/heating and AI-driven energy optimisation.
Three tracks
Startups and spin-offs working on technologies related to the world of living, or on frontier solutions applicable to promising markets. Through the Open Platform for Innovation, technical and commercial feasibility are tested together; possible long-term partnerships are evaluated only at a later stage.
Research groups doing applied research in the six areas above, from energy and materials to smart home, food tech and applied AI. An opportunity to connect research, business and industry. At the moment, evvoliLab is working exclusively with the Galileo Visionary District team.
Product design at evvoliLab is currently done with SID students only, as part of their studies at SID. In the Co-design Lab, third-year students work with faculty and evvoli contacts on real briefs, from research to final presentation.
